First, Petey is going to his parent’s house to help decorate.

On the way to his parents’ house , Petey stops by the store to pick up some decorations. He picks up rolls of red streamers, red party hats, and red paper lanterns.

Petey got to work stuffing the dumpling wrappers with the vegetable mixture.
彼得就开始用饺子皮包蔬菜馅的饺子。他在想这是意义很重要的饺子。
He thought about how these were very important dumplings. Eating dumplings on the Chinese New Year meant the next year would be filled with wealth!
在农历新年吃饺子意味着这一年将会财运滚滚!
Once Petey is done stuffing the dumplings, his mom drops them carefully into the hot fryer until they are golden brown.
彼得包完饺子后,他妈妈就小心地将它们放入热油炸锅中炸至金黄色。
Next, they get to work making the sweet rice balls.

Petey’s mom makes these every time the whole family is getting together, even when it’s not Chinese New Year.

The round shape of the rice ball symbolizes togetherness.

While Petey mixes the black sesame seeds, sugar, and butter together, his mom boils a pot of water.

Together, they push the filling into the center of the dough.

Petey and his family give each other one last hug before they go back downstairs and get ready for bed.
